This page is one small way I can acknowledge all of the great people who have helped me create the music on this website. I am setting up this page to recognize all of the members of the Raghat Band (whether they know they are one or not), and to help anyone interested in learning more about them. Many of them can be contacted via the Internet by going directly to their website using the LINKS page on this website. For those that do not have a website, this page lets them all get some recognition for the great help they have given me in creating the songs and CDs available on this site. My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them.
Since not everyone has a website, and since I am not giving out contact information for anyone without their permission, if you would like to contact one of the Raghat Band players and contributors, please send me an email and I'll let them know to get back to you.
Below is some detail on the The Raghat Band and its contributors:
David Morgan played, picked, sang and arranged most of the Movin' On CD and is singularly responsible for playing every note on Drifting. David is an amazing musician and has many CDs of his own. David has become the person I depend on most to make things happen for me. With all of his talent, he still enjoys working on my material. Interacting with him to "get it right" has led to some of my most memorable recordings and music. We are now in process of completing a new CD titled "Heartsongs" which again features David (plus others) playing and singing, and on which he is also taking an even larger role as Producer. We hope to have Heartsongs available in mid 2008. David owns Morgan Music Recording Studio in Redding, Connecticut, where many of the songs on Movin' On and all of Drifting were recorded. His website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Matt Sietz engineered most of Movin' On and all of Drifting, and it is safe to say that without his incredible ability to capture sound on recordings, neither would have turned out anywhere close to the way they did. Matt is now working on the Heartsongs CD, spinning his magic again. While he is an artist of the mixing console, but Matt is also a very talented musical artist and does his own CDs. You can find him on CDBaby.
George Smith is someone I hooked up with at the end of 2006 but already he has penned the lyrics for over 30 songs and worked collaboratively with me on several more. Most of what George and I have been doing is country flavored and can be heard on the Halfway To Houston CD on the COLLECTIONS link on this site, but we are also working on a few other styles as well. Working with George has been great and I look forward to creating many, many more songs together.
Tyler Smith did the production, arrangement, playing and singing on the new version of Time And Time Again, Comes Down To Love, Gulf Coast Cruise, You Leaving Me, If You Leave Me, and many, many more. He also did the vocals on several songs and did the arrangement and performing on Looking For A Cowboy. Tyler has a unique way of capturing the essence of the song whether its with piano, acoustic guitar or electric guitar really brings the songs alive.
Ernie Albert and I begun working together a few months ago and already he is having a huge impact on what I am doing. He is an outstanding engineer who really brings songs to life with energy and warmth, and he is a tremendous artist and writer in his own right. Ernie is currently producing a collection of country songs which should be available by the end of 2008. Ernie is the owner of ERX Productions in Greenwich, CT, and his website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Tim Wiedenkeller is an outstanding musician, writer and producer who helped me bring out two bluegrass songs - I Never Saw It Coming and Lay Your Money Down - two Americana folk songs - The Train To Copper Hill and I Need To Be In Texas - and an Irish folk song called I Was Young, which was co-written with my cousin Joan McGinnis. Tim is an internationally renowned artist and a great friend. We will be doing several more songs together in 2008 and beyond. His website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Kelly Mittleman did the amazing vocals on Dream Sweet Dreams, Changes Will Come - Guitar, How Could you Go? and is finishing up 3 more songs for the Heartsongs CD. Kelly is a fantastic vocal talent with great arrangement insights and skills. Her website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Fonda Feingold did all of the vocal arrangements on Movin' On, and sang the original version of Changes Will Come, Blues Go Away and You Don't Love Me. She is an incredible vocalist, performer, arranger and songwriter ... and a truly great friend. Her website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
John (Ratso) Giradi played guitar on The Journey, Where Did It All Go Right?, Mexico, Ain't No Way, Mary, and, most recently, the great blueswork on No Other Love and Knee Deep And Rising. To a large degree, John is why I am doing this becasue when I first came to him to do some songs, his enthusiasm and pure love of music gave me the confidence that I needed to believe that I could make this work. John owns Lenox Sound Recording Studio in Stamford, Connecticut, where many of the songs on Movin' On and several more on this website were recorded. His website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Alan Varner is an outstanding audio engineer and one I have just started working with in 2006. He engineered Blues Go Away, Mexico, Ain't No Way, The Journey, Doodley Doo Waht, Dream Dream, and Halfway to Houston (all on this site). Alan also engineered the re-mix versions of the mixing of Changes Will Come and You Don't Love Me - both outstanding. I am really looking forward to working more with him in the future.
Angel Risoff did the great vocal work on Mary, On Your Side and Where Did It All Go Right? for the Movin' On CD, and the incredible vocal on No Other Love and several songs that will appear on the Heartsongs CD. His distinctive voice was one of the hallmarks of the Movin' On CD and brought most of the early attention it recieved, and has gotten rave reviews for No Other Love.
Jeff DeMaio is "the" Pedal Steel player and appears on The Rest Is Easy, Halfway to Houston, Ain't No Way and You Don't Love Me, and will be on many, many more recordings (if he agrees) in the future. Jeff is just incredible in the way he can grab on to the feel of a song and make it his own.
Steve Russell is the harmonic player on Struttin', Full Beer Empty Heart, and Heartland of America. Steve has played, opened for, or recorded with legends like Robert Cray, Willie Dixon and Johnny Winter and is really helping to define a whole new sound for the Raghat Band with his playing. Steve appears on the latest CD from SLO Leak featuring Danny Kortchmar, Harvey Brooks and Charlie Karp.
Scott Spray played bass on almost all of the songs on Movin' On as he worked out of both Morgan Sound and Lenox studios. He also is on several new songs including Ain't No Way and Mexico. Scott is an outstanding musician who tours often with Edgar and Johnny Winter, so we grab him whenever he is in town.
Angelo Natale is a very broad musician and singer. He sings background harmony on most of the Movin' On CD and did the synthesizer programming for The Journey, Dream Dream and Doodley Doo Waht - really bringing those songs to life.
Angela Clemmons did all of the amazing gospel high-end vocals on Movin' On. She has an incredible voice and really made My Tears come together.
Richard Crooks did the drum work on many of the songs on Movin' On, including the title cut Movin' On, The Rest is Easy, First Time and Mary. Richie is a great player and really made those songs come together.
Craig Contrell did the great vocal work on one of the versions of Halfway to Houston. Craig works in part through PureVocals where he can be contacted. The PureVocals website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Walter Albertson did the graphic design and layout for both Movin' On and Drifting, and the logo for Raghat Music, LLC - my new company. He is a great guy and a very talented artist both graphically and musically. His website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
David Marshall, with his imaginative style, bold use of color and dramatic perspective, brings a fresh new look to the cover of the Drifting CD. His skill at capturing movement and animation in his art is a direct reflection of his own lifestyle and view of the world. David currently owns his own gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon where he also lives and paints. I met David through the Internet and through various communications, it was clear to me that his work and his approach to life were the perfect match for what we were trying to do with Drifting. His website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Ronn Burke is a long time friend and tremendously talented singer / songwriter. I recently got hooked up with Ronn again and he co-wrote and contributed the song Rainbows of Gold which ended up on the Drifting CD. Ronn also did a vocal version of Rainbows of Gold which is on this website. Ronn is a long-time member of the band Natchez Trace, based in Michigan, and has toured all around the country.
Larry Etkin did the great trumpet horn work on Blues Go Away and Changes Will Come, really bringing those songs to life.
Hirotaka Kusaga has been active in creating and exhibiting his work both in Japan and in the USA. Hirotaka san regards himself as a global citizen having lived in various U.S. locations for 17 years, and visited many countries around the world during his past career. His photograph that was used for the Movin' On CD cover was the perfect connection between what I had left behind and where I was going. Hirotaka san feels "a force that pulls me to the other side of life: spiritual and ecological existence. Through the photographic process, I can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch the world, communicating how I feel about it more vividly than using words." His website can be accessed by going to the LINKS tab on this homepage.
Larry and Cathy Kraus are friends for many years and are also both outstanding singer and musicians. Larry is actively involved in the music and wine scene in Tucson, Arizona and he and Cathy are working on several songs for me which should appear on this website very soon.
Other key members of the Raghat Band are: Dave Richards, Steve Hass, Ric Molina, Melissa Westgate, Corrine Metter, Liz Morgan, Cridpin Cioe, Greg Wall, Joe Boerst and Jim Brady
A little later, I'll put down what everyone else has done, but for now, thanks to everyone above for helping make the music !!!
